Moscow Exchange adopted new Methodologies for Blue-Chip Indices and free float
On April 19 the executive bodies of CJSC "MICEX Stock Exchange" and the Moscow Exchange adopted the Blue-Chip Indices Methodology and the Free Float Methodology.
The new methodology for the Blue-Chip Indices was designed as part of the project to create the single index family of the Moscow Exchange. The Indices serve as a benchmark for the most liquid stocks. The methodology implies that a comprehensive approach employed in other indices of the family is applied to the Blue-Chip Indices. Weights of the constituent stocks are proportional to their weights in the MICEX Index. The Blue-Chip Index will continue the historical values of the RTS Standard Index. During the main trading session the index will be calculated on prices of the Main Market Sector.
The Free Float Methodology provides a new way to determine the number of stocks readily available on the public market. The methodology defines depositary receipts as floating securities. Thereby, the indices are calculated in a more transparent way corresponding with global practices and allowing the most precise representation of the Russian market structure from a global investment perspective.
The effective dates of the new guidelines will be announced later.
