Moscow Exchange Precious Metals Market volumes reach record

The trading volume on Moscow Exchange's Precious Metals Market reached a record RUB 4.48 bln in December, with turnover of 2 tons of gold and 4 tons of silver.

An additional three banks began trading on the market, including Gazprombank and Russian Agricultural Bank, which are among the largest banks in Russia.

The market's total trading volume for 2014 was RUB 16.4 bln, or 9.4 tons of gold and 18.9 tons of silver.

Twenty five additional brokers joined the market last year, bringing the total to 48 (39 banks and nine investment companies) at the beginning of 2015.

Moscow Exchange launched spot gold and silver trading in October 2013. Precious metals are delivered to trading members' unallocated precious metals accounts with the National Clearing Centre, which acts as the CCP, clearing house, and settlement house, and facilitates bullion deposits/withdrawals at two Moscow-based vaulting facilities.
